Day 18~The Ugly Truth

This is me 2 years ago after I worked hard losing 30 lbs. I still had a ways to go but was working very hard at it and was very happy with myself and feeling so good and healthy.....
This is me 2 years later...I put all that weight back on and feel so ashamed. I know there is no excuse yet, I have every excuse in the book.

I have been putting off this post cause I really didn't want to face the truth and the numbers. I joined this 100 day challenge to change myself and push myself to do what I have accomplished before. I was challenged to put up my numbers so here is the UGLY truth...
Chest: 38
Waist: 38
Hips:47
Thigh: 30
Arms: 16
BMI:41

These numbers are more for me and may be too TMI for some of you. You may even gasp in shock. Looking at these numbers is not what I wanted. How did I ever let myself get like this? I can not wait to be able to get this weight off one and for all. and look back at all my hard work. I will post numbers 2 more times. Day 50, and day 100~ hoping to start seeing results.

Calories! Calories! Calories!! Day 3 of 100

Calories! that dirty little word. I have never really been big on counting calories or really care what goes in my body. I know I need to watch what I eat or read the little nutrition bar on the side of the box. Even when I thought something was "healthy" I have come to realize that it's not so healthy for me. I have a new awakening to watching what I eat and smaller portions. It's a hard thing to learn and very slow at it. It's also a huge adjustment on my body. I have seemed hungrier and can't seem to get "full". I know it will take some time to get my stomach to shrink a few and I just have to find healthy foods to "fill" me. I am learning. Today wasn't as bad. I wish I had extra money cause I think I would live off of Subway sandwiches for lunch everyday. I love loading them with all their veggies. I can't make a sandwich at home that tastes as good as theirs. I have been challenged to take a picture of myself now and take my measurements. That's a pretty gutsy move for me, but I will do it soon just cause I really want to see visible progress come day 100! I will post them this week, at day 50 and again at day 100! And a picture to go with it. I am hoping to stick to this and even after day 100! My goal is 50lbs by the end of the summer. But my short goal for now is 20!

Day 1, 99 to go!!

Today is the start of my 100 day challenge. It was actually pretty easy today and was very aware of the foods I was eating and trying to pick healthier options. For breakfast I have a small bowl of Quaker Oh's cereal. Lunch I had Subway! can't go wrong there! I had a small bowl of popcorn for snack. And for dinner I made tacos, but instead of piling on the meat and little room for veggies, I used little meat and piled on the veggies instead!

Not much in the way of aerobic exercise but I did get walking in, when I had errands to run at a few stores and just took extra time and walked around just to get the blood flowing and parker farther away, even though it was COLD outside and I'd rather just get in the door and not have to freeze! and also spent time outside chipping ice! for those who don't know anything about chipping ice, let me just tell you that's a workout all on its own. I had 3-4 inches thick of ice surrounding my sidewalk and driveway. I spent about 30 minutes out there and that was enough time to make my arms burn!

I use a great app on my iphone called spark people that tracks my food, calories, exercise and the calories I burn. I find it a great tool! It has almost every food you can think of, but you can always add it if the food isn't listed. Even mcdonalds is listed haha! that's what I'm trying to avoid!

My main goal is to lose about 20lbs by June 8th. More would be even better. I have a 5k coming up in May and a 5 miler in June! I hope to run at least part of those. Here's better eating habits, and routine exercise. The sun is starting to shine more and sidewalks starting to clear, hopefully it will warm up just a tad more so my wimpy butt will want to get outside and take some walks around with samuel!

So cheers to the next 100 days and that I stay motivated to keep pushing through! even on the days I don't feel like it!!

I'm Alive!!

Ok so I really let this blog die, but no worries, I am back for a while and will do my best to stay up on this. I see other peoples blogs and they have theirs all pretty and nice layouts. I have no clue how to get it any better then this, so if you have suggestions or willing to do it for me cause I have no clue I will give you my info to set it all up for me! Anyways, the main reason this blog is back is, I have been challenged to a 100 day challenge starting tomorrow. So, here's my goal, Daily exercise and lose 20 lbs by June 8th! I also want to eat healthier. I am excited and hope this time I can lose the weight and keep it off. Spring thaw is around the corner and will be warming up hopefully so and I can come out of my den of hibernation. I have been going to Jazzercise 3 times a week and hoping to bump it up to 5!! even start going back to the gym. I play on postind daily update on my progress and my numbers. So here's to a new year and the next 100 days!! No pictures today but will be posting some soon of my family and all new stories!

A month of Firsts

February has been a milestone month for Samuel. It's amazing how time just flies by and they grow right before your eyes. From rolling over, to his taste of his first food other then a bottle. Still no teeth but they are close and he drools like crazy.

Samuel getting his first taste of rice cereal. He loved it!!

He was willing to open his moth for me, he sure got the hang of it fast.

All gone and he wants more. Now anytime I'm eating something he sure eyes it and tries to get it. He's had some cheddar broccoli soup the other day when I was at lunch. Man didn't think I was gonna get a bite in at all. He sure show interest in food.

This was the last picture taken with Nate and the boys before he took off. Nothing like having to say "goodbye" to their daddy!!

I just had to throw this picture in cause he's so cute!!

I got Samuel rolling over on Camera for the first time from stomach to back. He mastered that art first. I didn't get back to stomach on camera but I was there to witness it. I love when I get to see a first.

You know you're a military wife when...

• The site of US GOVERNMENT on your caller ID no longer freaks you out

• All your husband's fresh white underwear has his "last four" stamped on the waist band

• You know the smell of JP-5

• You laugh at Top Gun. Even harder at Tom Cruise as "Maverick."

• You know that APO isn't a type of dog food

• Your husband's best friends have names like "GULA," "Wookie," "Rat Boy," and "Dancing Bear."

• Suddenly "GULA," Wookie," "Rat Boy," and "Dancing Bear" seem like affectionate nicknames. (Although, probably not to your civilian mother.)

• You've had five different jobs in four years.

• You've had five different addresses in four years.

• You've had five new best friends in four years.

• Luckily you've had the same husband for five years, but you haven't seen him in three.

• You know that "Haze grey and underway" is not a song by Neil Young.

• When your husband announces he's going to use "the head," you no longer smirk and think,
"About time...but I'm still smarter than you."

• You realize that when your husband is on "cruise," he won't be dining with the captain of the Love Boat

• Similarly, you realize your junior husband won't be dining with any captain.

• You know that your husband will eat in the Mess Hall, and you think that's right where he belongs.

• And last, you definitely know you're a military wife when you're sitting in a waiting room without your husband and you're not the least bit jealous of the girl who doesn't know her husband's "last four." (Even if she was thinner and had better skin.) Because you know, without a doubt, that she's got a lot to learn and a long way to go.

The Chopping Block

I decided to bite the bullet and do something drastic to my hair. It was time for a change. I just had to wait for nate to leave to do so. Nate loves my long hair and doesn't like it when I cut it. I have the next year to grow it back out. :)

Before
After
Excuse the fuzziness of the pic. My 5 yr old was taking the pic. I will try and get a better picture posted but this is it for now. My next goal is to lose 50 lbs. A new start to the new me!
